COAS Bajwa, Qatar Emir discuss security cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday met with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar in Doha.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani discussed measures to enhance bilateral security cooperation.

Talking to the COAS, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and the positive role being played by the country for regional stability including Afghanistan.

The COAS thanked Qatar’s emir for continued support towards a negotiated political settlement for peace in Afghanistan.

Later, the COAS attended the National Day Parade of Qatar and congratulated Lieutenant General Staff (Pilot) Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al Ghanim, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces on a professional and impressive parade befitting Qatar’s national solidarity and progress.

It is pertinent to mention here that Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa here at the General Headquarters on October 20.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, including regional security issues, were discussed during the meeting.

The army chief said that Pakistan will continue to positively contribute towards regional peace and stability.
