Commissioner Karachi warns against use of pencils for census forms

KARACHI: The commissioner of Karachi has taken notice of enumerators’ unauthorized practice of using pencils to fill in census forms during the ongoing population survey. 

A notification in this regard was sent to all deputy commissioners to ensure no enumerator in any district use a pencil to fill census form.

According to the notification submitted to all DCs, “It is keenly observed that some of the enumerators are making entries in Form-1 with a pencil, although a pencil is not allowed and is not a part of the census kit provided to the enumerators by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Sindh, Karachi.”

It further says: “The city commissioner, chairman divisional census coordination and vigilance committee desires that the instructions be issued to all enumerators through CDOs (census district officers) immediately and ensure that use of pencil is not repeated. Delinquents may be dealt with under the law, severely.”

The notification was also sent to senior government officials as well.
