LAHORE: Calling for the snap elections in the country, PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said the country’s politics is going through a crucial time owing to political polarization.

Addressing an all parties’ conference at the Lahore High Court (LHC) Bar, Qureshi conceded Khawaja Saad Rafique’s assertion that there is a dire need to soften the extreme attitudes to prevent political tensions, while stating: “May this attitude was shown towards the women in protests.”

He said the state institutions were politicized and could not deliver up to mark. “The performance of institutions would be affected if you politicise them,” Qureshi underscored.

Coming on Model Town incident, Qureshi deplored the use of force against the protesters and said a commission was formed in aftermath of the incident revealing all the facts.

Earlier, Khawaja Saad Rafique stressed easing extreme political attitudes, as what he said, politicizing the religion for petty interests is deplorable.

He warned the opposition parties that if they were aiming to dismiss the government, they should remember they could face similar situation.

PTI delegation meeting with Tahirul Qadri

A six-member delegation of PTI, led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, will hold meeting with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri today in Lahore.

An announcement of a joint action plan aimed at bringing the culprits of Model Town carnage to justice is expected after a meeting at Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Lahore.

According to a statement issued by the PTI’s central media department, the party leadership thoroughly discussed Justice Baqar Najafi’s probe report into killings of 14 activists of PAT in Model Town.

The PTI delegates include Shah Mehmood QureshiJehangir Tareen, Chaudhry Sarwar, Aleem Khan, Ijaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed.
