KARACHI: An accountability court here adjourned hearing of 17 billion rupees corruption reference against former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain and others, ARY News reported on Monday.
Earlier, the counsel of Dr Asim Hussain argued before the court that the accountability reference could not be proceeded against his client after promulgation of the new NAB ordinance.
The court asked the lawyer to present his arguments on the issue in the next hearing of the case.
A plea for exemption of Dr. Asim Hussain from his presence in the hearing was also submitted in the court.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case until November 02.
An accountability court in 2017 had indicted Dr Asim Hussain and others in an over Rs 460 billion graft reference.
Dr Hussain was taken into custody on August 26, 2015, by Rangers on various corruption charges.
He is accused of extending loss to the national exchequer by misusing his powers as a federal minister.
