Court grants bail to Abid Boxer in all cases

LAHORE: A sessions’ court in Lahore on Monday approved bail of former Punjab police inspector Abid Hussain alias Abid Boxer in all cases against him, ARY News reported.

The court had earlier granted him bail in eight cases filed against him. He had submitted bail request before the court in 10 cases he was facing.

The bail was approved by additional sessions’ judge Arshad Javed.

Abid Boxer, who was arrested in Dubai, had a considerable influence among political circles due to his ‘controversial’ tactics in dealing with criminal cases. He became wanted only when he was found involved in murders or abetment of murders of different individuals.

A sessions’ court had extended the interim bail of former Punjab police inspector Abid Hussain aka Abid Boxer in January.

Rejecting allegations leveled against him, the former cop had earlier accused former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif of using his political clout to get frivolous cases registered against him.

Boxer had joined the police force in 1988 as an assistant sub-inspector and was later promoted to the rank of inspector. He fled the country after various cases were lodged against him.

The notorious encounter specialist was arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and extradited to Pakistan through Interpol in February last year.
