CPLC releases July report on street crimes in Karachi

KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Monday released a report on street crimes committed in July 2018 in Karachi, ARY News reported.

According to details, 3,207 mobile phones were snatched or stolen, while only 130 could be recovered. 2,778 motorcycles were stolen or snatched and only 574 could be recovered.

Three incidents of extortion also took place in the megalopolis.

Twenty-five people were killed in the incidents of firing and torture.

Meanwhile,121 four-wheelers were also snatched or theft in the city.

The CPLC last year launched two websites for identification of unclaimed bodies and verification of snatched or stolen cell phones.

An official of the CPLC said the information about the identification of unclaimed bodies will be available on shanakht.cplc.org.pk.

Meanwhile, the snatched and stolen cell phones can be verified by International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers before purchasing second-hand mobiles by visiting mobilephone.cplc.org.pk
