According to details, unknown attackers riding on motorbikes lobbed a cracker at a police van near Nipa Chowrangi, subsequently injuring two out of five policemen. Sources told that after the blast fire erupted in the police mobile.
Meanwhile, duty policemen without taking any threat to their lives into account also opened retaliatory fire at the assailants.
As a result of retaliatory fire by the police team, one of the attackers was also said to be injured.
Meanwhile, SP Gulshan told that a police team was also sent to chase the attackers. Following the attack, the bridge landing at Nipa Chowrangi was closed for any kind of traffic.
This is third attack of its kind, which has taken place in the metropolis during the last three days.
Earlier on October 28, unknown miscreants had also hurled a similar cracker at the IRC imambargah near Aisha Manzil, due to which an infant girl was killed and several others were injured.
