ISLAMABAD: The deadline set for Appellate Tribunals to decide appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers of election candidates for the national and provincial assemblies’ seats is ending on Wednesday (today).
The polling for general elections in Pakistan is scheduled to be held on July 25.
According to the schedule for the general elections, the appellate tribunals are required to dispose off appeals for nomination papers by June 27. The election commission will publish the revised list of candidates on Thursday (tomorrow).
Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by Friday and the Election Commission will allot election symbols to candidates on Saturday. Polling for the general elections will be held on 25th of next month.
The ECP formed 20 tribunals to hear and decide appeals against rejection or acceptance of the nomination papers.
According to an ECP notification, the tribunals comprised of high court judges. The commission constituted eight tribunals for Punjab, six for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four for Sindh, and two for Balochistan province.
