Deadlock persists on ToRs of Panama leaks probe

The abortive meeting was adjourned till Saturday 4:00pm without making any progress.

From ruling party alliance, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, President National Party of Pakistan Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Akram Khan Durrani and Minister of State of Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rehman were present there.

While, Leader of the Opposition Khursheed Shah, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Sahibzada Tariqullah, Pakistan People’s Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan, Tariq Bashir Cheema and Barrister Muhammed Ali Saif attended the meeting from the opposition.

Different suggestions came under discussion between both the parties to break the deadlock, but the meeting ended without any progress as opponents were not ready to soften their stances.

Khursheed Shah said it would take years to reach consensus if behavior of the government remains same.

The opposition demanded from the government to change its policy to remove deadlock. They also protested over some federal ministers’ statements against political leaders and said such statements were spoiling the environment of the committee meetings.

The ruling party stressed to remove the PM’s name from ToRs, which was unanimously rejected by the opposition.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the government should tell if they wanted to resolve the issue or spoil it.

Tariqullah said the opposition was moving at the pace of ant as the government was using delaying tactics.
