According to the United States-based news agency, Lt. Paul Charvet went missing during the Vietnam War and was presumed dead. His family kept looking for answers about his well-being.

The fallen soldier’s sister Lorraine Charvet said the family and the air force continued their search for the deceased. She added that the aviation department used to update them about the search mission.

“Mom and dad were waiting to hear from him that he had gotten back to San Francisco, and they got the news that he didn’t come back,” she said.

Vietnam handed what was believed to be the deceased’s remains to the United States in 2020. The Defense Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Accounting Agency (DPAA) made a positive identification.

Lorraine Charvet said his final rites will be closure for the family as her brother returned home.
