LONDON: The British Government officials today said that no decision had yet been made to allow consular assistance to MQM chief Altaf Hussain, ARY News reported.
The UK government has, however, confirmed receiving letter from Pakistan High Commission in London for allowing consular assistance to MQM founding leader Altaf Hussain.
Sources informed that Mr. Hussain might also be kept in hospital today.
Mr. Hussain was detained by London Metropolitan Police over money-laundering charges from his residence in northwest London yesterday. Altaf was taken to police station for interrogation, however he was later moved to hospital due to deterioration of his health.
Meanwhile, MQM workers have been staging sit-in protest demonstration in Karachi and other parts of Sindh against detention of their leader in UK.
They refused to call off protest until they spoke to their leader and inquire after his health.
