Decision on Yemen crisis likely in couple of days: Asif

Addressing an energy conference here, Khawaja Asif revealed that 10,000 MWs of electricity will be induced in the national grid prior to the next general elections.

“The nuclear plant will add 680 MWs, while 2000 MWs will be induced in the national grid through solar and wind power projects,” he told. “On the whole, power projects with a capacity of generating 7000 MWs are underway in the country.”

Asif also said that efforts are underway to improve the condition of the power transmission line across the country.

He regretted that due to lack of an adequate system to store water, almost 13 million acre-foot of water get wasted here.

The minister said that according to Indus River System Authority (Irsa) Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan are using water 11, 17, 28 and 33 percent less than their share respectively.

Speaking about the Yemen crisis and Pakistan’s possible role in that, Khawaja Asif said that his government is into consultation with the Parliament and a final decision on the issue is expected in two-three days.
