Many uplift projects in tribal areas to be inaugurated this month: Bangash

PESHAWAR: A meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtonkhwa, Shehzad Bangash, on Monday decided that most of the development projects in tribal areas (former Federally Administrated Tribal Areas) would be inaugurated and initiated this month, ARY News reported.

The meeting also finalized schedule for inauguration of different uplift projects.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, chief minister Khyber Pakhtonkhwa and provincial ministers will lay foundation stone of the projects.

The projects that are to be inaugurated are mostly related to agriculture, irrigation, tourism, sports, education, health, road infrastructure, electricity supply and provision of clean drinking water.

Shahzad Bangash said speedy development in ex-FATA areas merged with KP would be the priority of the government.

During the meeting, he directed officials concerned to ensure timely completion of all uplift projects in their respective districts.

Governor Khyber Pakhtonkhwa Shah Farman had chaired the meeting of Apex Committee last week and reviewed issues related to merger of Federally Administered Tribal Area into KP.

The meeting reviewed the overall security situation of the province. The key meeting also discussed in detail about police deployment in the tribal districts after FATA merger.

According to the handout issued after the meeting, the members decided to take steps for bringing improvement in education and health sectors.
