Addressing a press briefing here, he told that 132 tonnes of explosives were recovered and subsequently destroyed and disposed in North Waziristan during the operation. Besides, 12,000 weapons of different calibers are seized during the operation, he added.
To a question, Major Bajwa said no time frame could be given for end to operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Most of the areas have been cleared by the armed forces. He added that over 199 terrorist have surrendered so far.
Major Bajwa said no one would be allowed to use Pakistan soil for terrorism. The DG ISPR informed that 44 militants have been killed in Khyber Agency so far, adding around 100 of them have been arrested.
He said terrorist activities had reduced in Peshawar following the military operation in the province and Fata. “Operation Zarb-e-Azb is continuing against all terrorists groups without any discrimination.”
He said military offensive is stopped in Aka Khel for the time being due to bad weather. NWA operation has effect in the entire country.
To a question, he said, “Whenever India violates ceasefire on eastern border, it does affect the attention but army’s commitment towards eliminating terrorism from tribal areas is firm.”
He appealed people to inform security forces about presence of criminals in their respective areas in tribal region so the terrorists could be eliminated for once and all.
