Indian spy’s meeting with family not result of change in Pakistan’s stance: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal on Monday said the meeting between convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav and his family members did not come as result of any change in Pakistan’s stance. 

Briefing media after meeting between the Indian spy and his family, Faisal said the family members of Indian spy were allowed to see Jadhav purely on humanitarian grounds.

He said Pakistan has concrete evidences against Kulbhushan Jadhav of his involvement in subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi. “Commander Jadhav has infiltrated into the country 17 times,” he added.

“It is a positive gesture and the family members were allowed to visit commander Jadhav on humanitarian grounds in accordance with Islamic morals and teachings,” Faisal said, adding, the meeting shouldn’t be linked with the proceedings ongoing at International Court of Justice (ICJ).

He went on saying that the meeting should also not be deemed as consular access to the convicted spy. “Many mothers have lost their sons owing to commander Jadhav’s action on the Indian behest,” he remarked.

Coming on today’s meeting, Faisal said Jadhav and his family have expressed gratitude to Pakistani officials for the meeting. He said Jadhav has been kept in comfort here while showing a medical report to the media persons.

In reply to a question, the foreign office spokesperson said a decision on consular access to be decided in due course.
