Drizzle expected in Karachi in coming days: Met office

KARACHI: Finally Karachities have something to look forward to as according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) a drizzle is expected that will break the ongoing Heatwave in Karachi.

Abdul Rasheed, Director PMD, said that the monsoon clouds are gradually heading towards Karachi and the monsoon season can be expected to start at the beginning of July.

Though it sure sounds like a blessing after the ongoing heatwave Rasheed said that the rain might not exactly turn out to be a relief.

Just last year in Karachi heavy rain poured in different areas of Karachi which left several streets flooded and many locals gravely affected. The city of lights also faced prolonged power cuts and electrical failures as a consequence of the downpour.

The rainfall, flooding the roads resulted in at least 11 people losing their lives in different rain-related incidents including drowning, electrocution, and ceiling collapse. Among the 11 victims, four were children.
