Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the names for top slots of chief minister and speaker of Sindh.
Former chief minister Murad Ali Shah has been nominated again for the post of chief minister Sindh by the party leadership, whereas Agha Siraj Durrani is set to reprise the role of speaker of Sindh Assembly, PPP spokesperson Nasir Shah notified. The position of deputy speaker Sindh Assembly will be given to Rehana Leghari, the spokesperson added.
The decision was taken at a parliamentary party meeting where former president Asif Ali Zardari and several other senior party leaders were also present.
Bilawal has cautioned “only those who demonstrate good performance will be given chances to go ahead”, according to PPP’s spokesperson.
“PPP is open to talk to all parties for forming the government in the province including the newly formed Tehreek-e-Labbaik,” Nasir Shah stated.
When asked about taking Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on board, he said that talks can be done with any party “but if they are to become a part of (PPP-led) coalition government, MQM will have to take back the “demand of Sindh’s division through the formation of 21 provinces as is present in their manifesto”.
Terming the Grand Democratic Alliance an “anti-poor alliance”, the PPP leader said that people of Sindh rejected its leaders in the general elections.
Sindh Assembly session has has been summoned on August 13 at 10am.
