CHITRAL: Earthquake tremors of 3 magnitude jolted Chitral and adjoining areas on Thursday, ARY News reported.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the epicenter of the earthquake was 45 kilometers in north of Chitral. The depth of the earthquake was 33 km, and its magnitude was 3 on the Richter scale.
Tremors felt in Chitral at 10am this morning. However, no casualties were reported in the tremors.
Two days back on Tuesday, September 27, earthquake tremors of 2.9 intensity jolted multiple areas of Azad Kashmir including Mirpur.
According to the NSMC, the epicenter of the earthquake was nine km northeast of Jund. The depth of the earthquake was 35 km and its magnitude on the Richter scale was 2.9.
No casualties were reported in the quake.
On September 5, earthquake tremors of 5.4 intensity jolted Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at night.
The epicenter of tremors was Afghanistan. The depth of the earthquake was 32 km and its magnitude on the Richter scale was 5.4.
It is to be mentioned here that the tremors relatively closer to the surface are likely to bear long-term adverse effects on the buildings.
