ECP announces new dates for postponed LG elections

According to ECP, voting was held in 4015 union councils in 12 districts across Punjab in the first phase of the local government elections. The commission stated that the earlier scheduled LG polls will now take place on November 19 — the day when second phase of the election commences.

It should be noted that voting in several districts were delayed due to deaths of candidates, printing of wrong ballot papers, group clashes and changes in the delimitations.

Polling will be held in as many as 79 districts — of them, five union councils in Lahore, seven Faisalabad, six Lodhran, three Vehari, two Pakpattan, three Okara, six Bahawalnagar, three Bhakkar, four Kasur, 18 Nankana Sahab, seven Chakwal and 13 in Gujrat.
