ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended last date for filing nomination papers to facilitate all aspiring candidates of general elections.
The ECP extended the date from Friday to Monday, says the notification. In a statement, the commission said nomination papers for reserved seats for women and non-Muslims can also be filed till Monday. It said priority lists of candidates for reserved seats should also be submitted till Monday.
ECP held meeting in connection with participation of int’l observers in General Elections 2018
A meeting in connection with participation of international observers in the General Elections 2018 was held in Islamabad on Thursday with Secretary Election in the chair.
The meeting reviewed the legal provision as per Election Act 2017.
The ECP reiterated its policy to allow international observers and international media as well as national observers to participate in the process of Election 2018. A detailed meeting is convened on Monday in this regard.
Meanwhile, the ECP has so far registered 105,955,407 voters including 59,224,262 males and 46,731,145 females for upcoming general elections scheduled to be held on July 25.
According to the ECP’s official data, there are as many as 4,299,494 registered voters in Balochistan including 2,486,230 male and 1,813,264 female.
In Punjab the number of voters is 60,672,868 including, 33,679,992 male and 26,992,876 female.
While, in Sindh total voters are 22,391,244. After the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, total voters in the area are 17,826,453 including 10,213,733 male and 7612,720 female.
