ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to introduce result transmission system through mobile phone in the upcoming by-election of NA-4, Peshawar.
This was announced by Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pir Maqbool Ahmad during a briefing in Peshawar on Friday.
The system will be used on experimental basis for polling on October 26 of next month for transparency and quick sending of results.
The Provincial Election Commissioner said the system had recently been successfully used in the by-elections in Sindh.

The NA-4 seat had fallen vacant after the death of Gulzar Khan, a dissident MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) will field a joint candidate for NA-4 by-election in Peshawar.
JUI-F leader Gul Naseeb on Tuesday and said that the PTI government had ruined institutions in the province.
He said the JUI-F and PML-N will field a joint candidate for the by-election, while the PTI will be deprived of leadership in the future.
