ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to use electronic voting machines in the next general election in the country, ARY News reported on Thursday.
The ECP has decided to introduce reforms in the electoral system including use of electronic voting machine and biometric system in next general elections, the sources at the election commission said.
The commission will announce its proposed reforms plan today, sources said.
The commission has decided to reform the electoral system after the feedback of the recent general election. The ECP has consulted with all stakeholders over the proposed reforms, sources said.
The commission has also demanded financial and administrative autonomy and will urge for consultations with the political parties.
The reforms package has been prepared to ensure transparent elections in year 2018.
