PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to hold elections on 16 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in the tribal districts of former Fata region on July 02, ARY News reported on Monday.
The ECP has announced the election schedule for the provincial assembly election in the merged districts of the tribal region.
The nomination papers for the election could be submitted from May 09 to 11, while the list of the candidates will be issued on May 12, according to the election schedule.
The appeals against rejection or approval of the nomination papers could be filed upto May 22, while May 29 will be the last date of withdrawal of the nomination papers.
The ECP will allot election symbols to candidates on May 30.
A ban has been enforced over transfers and postings in government departments in the region.
The election commission had in April notified district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs) for general elections in the tribal districts.
The provincial election commissioner was appointed as returning officer for the five reserved seats from the region including four for women and one for non-Muslims.
All arrangements have been finalised for the polls in which over 2.5 million voters will exercise universal suffrage to elect their representatives for the provincial legislature. There are at least 1.03 million registered women voters in the seven merged districts.
