Amal murder case: SC seeks progress report on commission’s recommendations

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday sought report regarding implementation on recommendations of a commission formed to probe killing of Amal in Karachi by the police firing, ARY News reported.

Advocate Faisal Siddique represented the Amal’s family. He said commission formed to probe the matter had released its report while Sindh government, police and the National Medical Center have also submitted their replies.

The lawyer read out the recommendations given by the commission during the hearing.

The court asked the lawyer to thoroughly examine the answers of the parties concerned and inform the court about recommendations implemented so far.

Justice Qazi Faiz Eesa asked whether all the parties were satisfied with commission’s recommendations. The parents’ lawyer said they wholly agreed to the recommendations mooted by the probe commission.  However, they didnt agree with the opinion of hospital regarding the incident.

Sindh Police also consented to the suggestions of the commission and filed its reply in this regard. The representatives of Sindh Police informed the court that several steps had been taken in light of commission’s suggestions.

The court asked Amal’s parents to file a plea if they wanted the court to hear their case in Karachi. However, they responded they had no objection to the court’s proceedings in Islamabad.

The hearing was adjourned till April 24.
