PM Imran to pay three-day visit to China from April 27

ISLAMABAD: Schedule has been finalised for the forthcoming three-day official visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China in next month, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

PM Khan will depart to Beijing on April 27 and he would be accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and cabinet members, sources said.

During the visit, PM Imran Khan will attend an event of the Belt and Road Initiative also known as ‘One Belt One Road Initiative’ which would be participated by heads and representatives of more than 100 countries, sources added.

The premier will also hold meetings with global leaders in the sidelines of the international event.

PM Khan will hold important meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, his counterpart Li Keqiang and other leaders. The meeting will be held to discuss the new dimensions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (Cpec) project.

The visit will conclude on April 29.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Imran Khan is visiting China over the invitation of his counterpart Li Keqiang.

On March 21, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had unveiled that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be visiting China shortly to attend an international meeting in Beijing which would be attended by heads of representatives of a large number of countries.

The foreign minister had said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (Cpec) entered into its new phase. “CPEC Plus has been initiated after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s successful visit to China,” said FM Qureshi.

PM Imran Khan had earlier paid a four-day visit to China in November 2018, in which both the countries inked several cooperation agreements and memorandum of understandings.
