Imprisoned Nawaz refuses to move to hospital: sources

TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has refused to be shifted back to hospital from jail, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to sources, the prime minister had ordered to move Sharif to the hospital in view of his health condition. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders have also been expressing concerns over deteriorating health of Sharif.

Sources told that Nawaz Sharif was constantly neglecting food prescription by the doctors.

The government had earlier finalized arrangements to move Sharif back to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The team of doctors, comprising Prof Nadeem Hayat, Prof Shahid Hamed, and Prof Khalil, was also on alert to treat the ex-PM.

The ex-PM’s daughter said her father was suffering from angina and he needed immediate treatment.

She tweeted earlier in the day: It’s a medical fact that every episode of angina worsens the heart disease further & can irreversibly damage the heart. Who will I blame or who will be responsible if anything happens to him God forbid? The callousness, I repeat, is shocking.”

She continued, “Imagine the extent of the heartlessness, hostility & political victimisation meted out to MNS by the govt that he is risking his health & life.”

The former prime minister was recently shifted back to Kot Lakhpat Jail from Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital in the light of the medical board’s recommendations.

It may be recalled that Nawaz Sharif, on Feb 7, had also refused to be moved to Punjab Institute of Cardiology for treatment, and insisted to shift him back to the Jail. His request was granted.
