Two policemen involved in killing of Gilgit man in Karachi suspended

GILGIT: Taking action on a report of ARY News, Gilgit-Baltistan Inspector General of police (IG) Sanaullah Abbasi here on Thursday suspended two police personnel over their alleged involvement in murder in Karachi.

According to the details, Gilgit-Baltistan’s IG suspended Head Constable Muhammad Saleem and a personnel of elite police force, Soahil for killing a man, Muhammad Ali on April 10 in Lines area, Karachi.

Talking to ARY News, Gilgit-Baltistan’s IG confirmed that he had suspended both the police personnel and waiting for the official documents from Karachi police.

He said that they were investigating the role of SP Astore in the murder. Sources said that he had sought a comprehensive report from the SP about the incident.

Earlier, a Karachi police officer, on April 17, had said that Gilgit-Baltistan police reportedly facilitated suspects to trace and kill a Gilgit man in Karachi.

A Karachi police officer had said that the modern equipment provided to Gilgit-Baltistan police to trace terrorists were used to facilitate the suspects to locate and kill the man, Mohammad Ali, in Karachi.

A tortured and bullet-riddled body of a Gilgit man was recovered from Lines Area in Karachi on April 10.

Following the investigation, Rangers on April 12, arrested five suspects and three of their facilitators, involved in a murder of the man. Later, the suspects were handed over to police for further interrogations.

Disclosing the motive behind murder, a suspect Shabbar Hassan told the police that Mohammad Ali had kidnapped his 45 years old aunt, Maheen and fled to Karachi. Hassan confessed that he had fired nine bullets at his head and face.
