‘We have to be ready for every situation’: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of tension between Pakistan and India, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday said that the nation should be ready for every situation.

Talking to journalist, outside the parliament house, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that If there was de-escalation with the return of the Indian pilot, Pakistan was willing to consider this. He said that they were ready for all positive engagement with India.

While talking about Indian participation in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting, FM Qureshi said that Indian should not have been invited in the conference on Kashmir and added that New Delhi even had not the status of observer.

The foreign minister said that he had decided not to attend the OIC meeting if Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj would attend the meeting. He said the Pakistan was the founder member of OIC.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on February 26, had telephoned Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Dr Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen and expressed displeasure over inviting Indian in its emergency session on Kashmir.

Matters of mutual interest, Indian intrusion, current regional situation, Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and other issues were came under discussion during the telephonic conversation between the two leaders.
