Road accident claims 19 lives in DG Khan

MULTAN: At least 19 people have been killed and 45 others sustained injuries as two passenger buses collided on Multan road near Ghazi Ghaat in Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan on Sunday night.

Rescue officials shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital, while emergency has been declared in all the hospitals of DG Khan. The local administration appealed the masses to donate blood to save the injured. The reason behind the accident is yet to be probed.

President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have expressed condolence with families of the deceased and the injured. They directed the concerned authorities to leave no stone unturned in providing medical treatment to the injured.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar also expressed grief over the accident and announced that the provincial government will bear all the expenses of the treatment. DG Khan Commissioner Tahir Khursheed visited the injured and monitored the arrangements.

Police have lodged launched an investigation into the incident.

Last month, two people were killed and 10 others sustained injuries after collision between a motorcycle-rickshaw and a passenger van in Multan.
