Saudi foreign minister touches down in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir has touched down in Islamabad on a daylong visit, ARY News reported on Thursday.

During his visit, the Saudi minister will hold meetings with Prime Minster Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss bilateral matters and regional situation.

Earlier, speaking to ARY News, FM Qureshi had said that Pakistan gave great importance to its relations with Saudi Arabia and added that Adel Al-Jubeir had declared Pakistan his second home.

Sources said that Adel Al-Jubeir would convey an important message of Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman to PM Imran Khan.

Foreign minister said that China and Russian had also played their role in defusing tension in the south Asia. Talking about Pakistan-India tension, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) thought that its vote bank would fall if relations between Pakistan and India would normalize.

He further said that United States’ Secretary of State Michael Pompeo also played important role to de-escalate tension in the region.

The foreign minister said, ‘Pakistan is a peace loving country and could continue its efforts for regional peace.’  He said that Pakistan also wanted restoration of durable peace in Afghanistan.
