KARACHI: The Supreme Court Karachi Registry on Monday released a murder convict  after almost ten years, ARY News reported.

The SC bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa transformed the sentence of murder convict Mansoor Khan into punishment and ordered release of the culprit.

Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has remarked that the exact interpretation of the murder and accidental incident is important, adding the incident should not be considered as an accident, and there is no punishment for accidental incident under section 80.

He said if a bullet was fired on animal or any place and it hits a human, then it’s not an accidental incident, but if a bullet is fired abruptly therefore it was an accidental happening.

The murder incident occurred in 2008 in Sharafi Goth area during gathering of friends at a farm house. The trial court had announced the verdict against Khan and the high court had also upheld the decision.

In a similar case, the Supreme Court on Feb 12 acquitted a murder suspect – convicted by the Lahore High Court (LHC) – almost a decade after his imprisonment.

A three-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that prosecution couldn’t come up with concrete proofs against suspect, Asfandyar, hence the court was acquitting him.
