Senate body members indecisive over action against fake degree holders
ISLAMABAD: A report regarding fake degrees of pilots and cabin crew members of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was presented before the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation on Wednesday, ARY News reported.
The government members insisted on a strict action against those holding degrees, however, the opposition didn’t back the government call, sources said.’
Chairman of the committee, Mushahidullah Khan, expressed dissatisfaction on the report and said unnecessary delay was witnessed in action against the fake degree holders.
“It is beyond comprehension that charge-sheet in the case was issued four years later after issuance of show-cause notices,” he said.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official said the stay orders from the court resulted in delayed action. Khan said no leniency should be given to those found guilty in the probe.
Senator Nauman Wazir said criminal proceedings should be initiated against fake degree holders.
However, Maula Bux Chandio said it seemed [some Senators from the government] were looking to seek hanging of fake degree possessors. Nauman Wazir responded that the law should be equal for all.
Mushaidullah Khan said making someone unemployed in the fake degrees case was not the intent.
The chairman of the committee said punishment should be given, but treatment with the those responsbile must be polite.
