MULTAN: Two suspected terrorists were shot dead and four others managed to escape after a fierce gunfight with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police in Jalalpur Pirwala on Sunday night, ARY News reported.

According to the CTD police, a targeted raid was carried out in Jalalpur Pirwala area following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists there.

CTD officials said as the law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and challenged the terrorists to surrender, they opened fire at the personnel instead. In the retaliatory fire, two terrorists were killed while four others managed to escape the scene of the encounter.

The officials said they have recovered arms, hand grenade and explosive material from their possession.

Earlier in August, the CTD had claimed to have foiled a terror plot targeting police personnel in Lahore’s Saggian Bridge and killed four suspected Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in an encounter.

According to the police, three to four others had managed to escape.
