KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Sunday vowed to set up shelter homes for homeless in collaboration with social welfare organizations in the province.

While visiting a welfare centre of a private organization, Imran Ismail said that under the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan they would construct shelter homes for homeless and provide them food and other necessities.

He said the PTI government will launch health cards and mobile hospitals and added that the last five governments did not do the work which the current government did.

“A honest person is the chief executive of the country and a truthful never face shortage of money for any noble cause because nation generously responds on his appeal,” the governor added.

Talking about Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), Imran Ismail said that the government will not compromise on encroachments on KCR and will comply with the orders of the apex court.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Imran Khan, on November 24, had said tents were being set up in Lahore as temporary shelters for the homeless sleeping on the footpaths.

In an earlier tweet, Imran had said that he had asked Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to set up tents for people sleeping on footpaths and provide them food until Panah Gahs (shelters) were built.  He said the move was necessitated by the cold weather.
