Ethan Hawke set to play Nikola Tesla biopic

Ethan Hawke is all set to electrify his fans in his next movie ‘Tesla’ by playing the role of Nikola Tesla, the famous electricity pioneer, in biopic.

Tesla is written and directed by Michael Almereyda, who has already worked with the American actor in Hamlet and Cymbeline.

The biopic will chronicle the life and times of the famed Serbia-American inventor, who is known for designing the modern alternating current (AC) electric supplying system.

The inventor also made the Tesla coil that is still being used in radio technology. There are several other contributions by the inventor in the field of technology including discovery of X-ray, radar, remote control and rotating magnetic field.

The biopic will include creation of the AC motor by Tesla. It will also show the fierce rivalry between him and Thomas Edison. Both the scientists earlier worked together before dissociating over business conflicts.

The flick is being marketed to buyers at the European Film Market the following week in Berlin, Germany.

Earlier, Nicholas Hoult in The Current War and David Bowie in The Prestige have successfully portrayed the famous inventor.
