LONDON: A man attempted to sneak into the room of a London hospital where former premier Nawaz Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz is being treated. But, he was stopped by officials at the medical facility.
The former first lady is stated to be in critical condition as she has been put on life-support machines after she suffered a heart attack two days back.
Hussain Nawaz, the former premier’s elder son, said an unauthorised man tried to enter her mother’s room by pretending to be a doctor, but security guards and officials at the hospital thwarted his bid.
He said the person identified himself as Dr Naveed, adding that the administration took timely action, catching the man and later handing him over to police.
When the police asked the man the reason behind his entering a place he has no concern with, he said he wanted to inquire after her health and conceded it was a mistake on his part to enter the room without prior permission.
He said he is a doctor by profession.
After questioning and verifying his medical practitioner’s ID, the police released him with a warning.
Following this incident, security has been ramped up outside her hospital room and no one except her family members will be permitted to visit her.
A day earlier, Mr Hussain said her mother’s condition is critical and she has been on a ventilator. He, however, said she is showing some signs of improvement.
