ISLAMABAD: A fake social media account of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Punjab member Babar Hassan Bharwana has been unearthed, ARY News reported on Sunday.
The ECP spokesperson said that different statements were being posted online from a social media account. “ECP Punjab member has not issued any kind of statement,” the spokesperson clarified on behalf of the said member.

“Moreover, the ECP Punjab member has no account on any social media platform. The Toshakhana verdict was the unanimous decision of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four members,” it concluded.
On October 21, the election commission issued a clarification the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has no social media account. The spokesperson appealed to not believe in fake social media accounts related to the commission and the CEC.
The clarification message read that some fake social media accounts were using CEC’s name to spread misinformation and propaganda among the masses. The commission asked the nationals to not believe in the fake social media accounts.
