Farooq Sattar calls for ‘free, fair and transparent’ census

KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar has expressed reservations over the sixth population and housing census which official went underway on Wednesday.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News correspondent Arbab Chandio, the MQM leader called for a free, fair and transparent census.

“If the census, like previous ones, is not held in free, fair and transparent way, then it means then next general elections will also not be held in a free, fair and transparent manner,” he said.

He said that the population of any city or area should be exaggerated or purposely reduced, which he claimed have happened in the housing blocks.

He also called for including all migrants including illegal ones into the census as they use national services.

The MQM leader said that several political parties had vested interests and wanted the census phase to pass and move over.

He said the Supreme Court had called for holding the national census, which compelled the political parties to accept it.
