Farooq Sattar denies meeting Ibad, Musharraf in Dubai

KARACHI: Mutahida Quami Movement Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar has denied that he met former Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad or former President Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Dubai.

Sattar, while speaking to journalists upon arrival at the airport, said that his visit to Dubai was a private one and he had not interacted with any political personality during his trip.

When asked what efforts are being made to regroup the MQM, Sattar said that the party stands united and more strengthened than ever before. “The MQM is more strengthened and stable than before,” he said.

When asked about the comments by Senator Nehal Hashmi that the ouster of Governor Sindh had removed the last traces of terrorism from the province, Sattar said they should they should move forward and shun the politics of blame.

He said that the people of Karachi were dejected and were feeling hopeless and it was necessary to provide hope to the people. “The politics of accusations should be buried, and we should move forward,” he said.

The MQM had on Tuesday denied speculations that it was forming a political alliance with the former President who is also the the chief of the All-Pakistan Muslim League.

It issued a clarification statement that Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan had met Musharraf in a gathering of mutual friends but without any political implications.

Earlier, prominent lawyer and APML leader Ahmed Raza Kasuri had made a statement that he would like to see an alliance  between the two parties.
