KARACHI: Terming all his allegations “baseless”, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farogh Nasim on Tuesday said that he never advised Farooq Sattar to amend the party constitution and get discretionary powers for himself, ARY News reported.
MQM-P’s PIB faction leader Farooq Sattar had claimed during an ARY News talk show on March 5 that Farogh Nasim advised him to relegate Amir Khan, make Tessori a lawmaker and opposition leader and amend party constitution.
“He perhaps forgot to mention that I also advised him to become US president and United Nations General Secretary,” quipped Farogh Nasim when asked about Sattar’s allegations.
Farogh Nasim, who emerged as the only winner among MQM-P’s five candidates in March 3 Senate polls, maintained that Farooq Sattar has sought legal help from him multiple times in the past but he never suggested him such drastic moves to run the party.
Nasim, however, accepted that Sattar approached him for advice several times with complaints that
Amir Khan and Khawaja Izharul Hassan are not allowing him to run the party freely, upon which he suggested at least five different versions of moves as Sattar promised him to put them before Rabita Committee.
“Upon his (Sattar) insistence, I drafted at least five versions of suggestions to run the party, upon which I asked as to what will he do with these drafts, he (Sattar) said that he will put them before Rabita Committee… but I drafted all these suggestions on his insistence,” said Nasim.
He added that Farooq Sattar has been seeking legal help from him since 2007 and he had his bail approved in at least 40 cases from ATCs (anti-terrorism courts).
“Is this how is paying me back (through false allegations,” lamented Nasim.
Farooq Sattar, who heads his own faction of MQM-P, claimed during the March 5 interview that Farogh Nasim advised him to him to amend constitution, relegate Amir Khan, appoint Tessori as deputy convener and get him elected to Sindh Assembly.
Sattar added that Nasim also advised him to “get rid of” Khawaja Izharul Hassan.
