KARACHI: Out-of-favor batsman Fawad Alam on Saturday said that it was hard to overcome disappointment after being ignored in the 16-man squad for the upcoming tour to Ireland and England.

“It was hard to overcome disappointment but somehow I have moved forward and took part in this tournament and my next assignment is Pakistan cup one-day,” Fawad Alam said while talking to ARY News.

The 32-year-old said that he will keep on performing well and the day will soon come when he will find his place in the national Test side.

“A player can only perform well and I think I am doing it since long,” Fawad said.

When asked about his meeting with Pakistan team captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Fawad said that he would not like to comment upon the matter.

“No comment,” he replied when asked about the news item in a local newspaper regarding his “emotional”  meeting with Sarfraz Ahmed.

Fawad had scored 10,000 above runs with an average of 55 in First-class cricket, well above Imam-ul-haq and Fakhar Zaman who will travel along with Test team to Ireland and England.

The left-hander currently is representing Karachi Region Blues against Abbottabad region in the semi-final of Quaid-e-Azam trophy grade-II.

Fawad will then be representing Sindh in Pakistan Cup; the tournament will commence from 25 April.

Regarding his preparation for the Pakistan Cup, he said that it is going to be a tough contest for all the teams.

“The tournament is tough but we have no worries as we will prepare ourselves according to the situation,” said Fawad, adding that his team [Sindh] is strong and the players understand each other.

“We know each other since long hence we will gel much better than the other teams in the tournament,” concluded Alam.
