‘If he is such a good IG, appoint him in Punjab’

KARACHI: As the Sindh government remains embroiled in a rift to remove incumbent Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja from his post, a PPP leader has suggested that if the federal government likes services of Khawaja they should appoint him in Punjab.

Former Sindh advisor and PPP leader Maula Bukhsh Chandio made the suggestion during ARY News program ‘Off the record’ saying that the federal government should appoint A.D. Khawaja.

“If he (Khawaja) is so good, then appoint him in Punjab, and end this issue,” he suggested and also questioned why the entire federal government had backed Khawaja.

Chandio maintained that media is reporting that A.D. Khawaja had a number of issues with Sindh government and if an IG has differences with the government, he himself should resign.

“He is a good officer but if he has issues with Sindh government, why should we keep him (as an IG),” asked Chandio.

Sindh government had removed A.D. Khawaja and replaced him with Abdul Majeed Dasti on Saturday. However, he was reinstated by the Sindh High Court on Monday who ordered him to resume charge.

The Sindh cabinet on Wednesday again decided to remove him. However, Khawaja remains adamant and said that the matter is sub judice and will he will not resign from his post.
