FIA apprehends three human traffickers in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday, arrested three accused involved in human trafficking in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported.

As per details, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of the FIA arrested three accused namely, Abdul Qayoom, Ikram Gul and Mazhar.

“As many as 355 passports and rupees12.8 million were recovered from the custody of the arrested accused,” an official of the FIA Kamran Ali said.

In FIA’s separate action on January 5, two human traffickers were rounded up from Gujrat.

The  FIA apprehended two agents, involved in human trafficking in Gujrat, and recovered illegal passports, fake rubber stamps and other stuff from their custody.

Back in the month of December, 2018, the FIA had arrested seven human traffickers, eleven deportees, and two other persons for trying to travel abroad on bogus documents from Sialkot International Airport.

Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general informed the Supreme Court after being summoned in a case pertaining to increasing incidents of the human trafficking that the Gujranwala was hit hard by the issue.

A three member bench of the Apex Court headed by the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, had also summoned Advocate General Punjab to assist in the case.

The court observed there were issues stemming from lack of coordination between the state institutions.
