Fire breaks out at electronic market in Karachi

KARACHI: A fire broke out in electronic market located near Karachi’s Regal Chowk, ARY News reported on Monday, quoting rescue authorities.

According to details, fire erupted in the shops of electronic market at Regal Chowk in Saddar area. The rescue teams reached the spot after being informed by the market authorities.

Fire bridage staff along with two water bowsers and three fire tenders is striving hard to control the raging fire. The blaze reportedly started due to an electrical fault in the wiring on the mezzanine floor of the market, where a large number of warehouses are located.

Authorities are trying to prevent the fire from spreading to these warehouses. Residential flats on upper floors of the building have been evacuated as a precaution.

Earlier on December 19, a fire broke out on Tezgam Express, causing panic among the passengers.

According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Railways, the incident occurred between Kot Lakhpat and Jia Bagga Railway Station.

The brake van of the Tezgam Express caught fire as it travelled from Lahore to Karachi.

The passengers quickly disembarked the train as soon as the incident happened and no casualties were reported, as per the spokesperson.

Rescue 1122 and the train staff rushed to the spot, promptly extinguished the flames. The affected brake van was detached and the Tezgam Express was clear to depart to Karachi
