KARACHI: A massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in Labour Square SITE area of the metropolis on Sunday morning, however no loss of life was reported.
Nine fire brigades besides a snorkel doused the ‘third-degree’ raging blaze at the plastic manufacturing factory after six hours. The cooling process is underway.
According to our reporter, the fire erupted due to boiler explosion inside the factory which engulfed the entire building within few minutes since plastic is highly inflammable commodity. Black clouds of smoke were seen in the sky far from the spot.
Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar reached the site and directed to make all efforts the dowse the fire. Talking to ARY News, he said that the city administration was using all available resources to control the situation and extinguish the fire despite lack of adequate equipment.
He further said that firefighting foam was used to douse blaze like this one. “The city government facing lack of funds to purchase firefighting foam used for fire extinguishing”, he added.
