Fire erupts at Sasta Bazaar of Islamabad, 10 shops completely burnt

ISLAMABAD: A huge fire broke out in Sasta Bazaar at Islamabad’s Sector H/9  on Wednesday morning, engulfing several shops and stalls, ARY News reported.

According to our correspondent, at least 10 shops and stalls in the garment section of the Bazaar were burnt to ashes. Five fire tenders are dousing the raging fire.

Thick, black clouds of smoke have been seen towering over the the federal capital. So far, no loss of life has been reported.

Officials said that the fire might have spread after locals lit up garbage – generally done to discard it – which engulfed nearby stalls as wind causing the fire to spread.

Assistant Director Fire and Rescue Islamabad Rizwan Sarwar while talking to ARY News, confirmed that at least 10 shops in the garment section of the Bazaar were completely burnt by the blaze.

Meanwhile, rescue officials said that the fire is under control and would be extinguished shortly as the rescue operations were started timely by preventing major loss of property.

The site hosts a weekly budget market, situated at Sector H-9 near Peshawar Mor. A large number of residents visit the Bazaar.
