Australian captain George Bailey won the toss and put his side to bat first.
Pakistani pacer Mohammad Irfan dismissed opener Aaron Finch on the first ball of the innings as he caught by Ahmed Shehzad but David Warner and Steven Smith put their side back on the track.
The visitors managed to put 255 on the scorecard in their 50 overs thanks to Smith’s 101 runs from 118 balls which comprised of six boundaries and two sixes. Warner made 43 runs from 63 balls.
Wicket keeper batsmen Brad Haddin scored 23 runs from 27 balls whereas Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson each scored 21 runs.
Spinner Shahid Afridi took three wickets and Wahab Riaz grabbed two wickets in the innings. Fawwad Alam, Zulfiqar Babar and Mohammad Irfan took one wicket each.
Pakistan, needing 256 to win in their 50 overs, were all out for 162 runs in 35.5 overs with only four of its batsmen scoring in double figures.
The Pakistani middle order collapsed could not contribute much to the side.
Umar Akmal was the top scorer for the green shirts with his knock of 46 runs from 57 balls whereas Sarfaraz Ahmed made 34 runs from 41 balls.
Asad Shafiq made 13 balls from 28 balls whereas tail ender Zulfiqar Babar and Mohammad Irfan made 12 runs each .
Pacer Johnson took three wickets in his seven overs whereas spinner Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Lyon each grabbed two two wickets each. Kane Richardson and Sean Abbott also took one wicket was well.
Steven Smith was named the Man of the Match for his solid performance in the game.
Australia leads the three match series 1-0. The second ODI will take place in Dubai on Friday.
