FO releases list of Pakistanis missing in NZ terror attack

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has released a list of Pakistani citizens missing during the terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Foreign Office Spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Faisal, in a statement said that nine Pakistani citizens have been missing in the Christchurch attack.

The missing Pakistani nationals included Syed Jahandad Ali, Zeeshan Raza and their parents, the FO statement said.

Haroon Muhammad 40, a resident of Rawalpindi, Sohail Shahid 40 and Karachi’s Areeb Ahmed 26 are also among the missing Pakistani citizens, the statement said.

In a tweet, Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal earlier said that four Pakistanis were injured and being treated in hospitals, whereas five Pakistanis are missing. He said identities are being authenticated in consultation with local authorities.

Sharing details of a victim in another tweet earlier, Dr Faisal said that Muhammad Amin Nasir from Punjab’s Hafizabad district was in ICU and in a critical condition.

At least two Pakistanis of a family had been martyred in the terrorist attacks on mosques in New Zealand on Friday, according to their family.

Dr Khursheed confirmed that his brother, Naeem Rashid and nephew Talha, had been martyred in terror attack on a mosque in Christchurch. He said that his brother was a teacher and added that they hailed from Abbottabad.

Pakistan has condemned in the strongest possible terms the heinous terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand that resulted in loss of forty nine innocent lives and critical injury to 20 others.
