ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday held a meeting with President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan and discussed the current situation of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IoK).
The president congratulated him on his appointment as the foreign minister and briefed him about the human rights situation in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
While highlighting the findings of the Report of United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the president regretted that instead of addressing the concerns raised in the report on human rights violations perpetrated by the Indian occupation forces, India has exacerbated its repression in held Kashmir with the imposition of governor rule and resorting to brute use of force.
The foreign minister welcomed the recommendation of the OHCHR Report to constitute a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to investigate the gross and systematic human rights violations in IoK.
He highlighted the steps taken by the ministry and Pakistani missions abroad to underscore the importance of the OHCHR Report and stated that Pakistan would continue to draw attention to the findings of the report at international forums.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi affirmed that the people and the government of Pakistan would continue to give full moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of IoK in their legitimate struggle to attain their inalienable right to self-determination.
