Former Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari granted pre-arrest bail

Bukhari reached the session court amidst a large group of supporters which include lawyers and party activists. This court quickly changed into a rally as they raised slogans favour of him and against the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Additional Session Judge Arif Mehmood approved the application of Nayyar Bukari and his son, Jarar Bukhari. They were granted pre-arrest bail after submitting surety bonds on 20,000 rupees each.  They have to appear before the judge again on 16th May.

Bukari said that he had surrendered himself in front of the court. He wanted to come here earlier but had been prevented by security officers.

Yesterday, a district court in Islamabad had issued arrest warrants for former chairman Senate and had ordered his immediate arrest. Police reached his residence but they were barred from entering inside.

On Wednesday, a police constable tried to frisk Bukhari which lead to a heated argument between them, after which  Bukhari threatened him with dire consequences while his son allegedly slapped the policeman.
